Pre-conference workshops

On the first day of the conference (Monday, 16 September 2024) we will offer two pre-conference workshops in collaboration with the University Hospital Dresden. You can register for these when registering for the conference. Please note that places are limited, so book early to secure your place! Please also note that the workshops will take place at the same time, so you will have to choose which one to attend.

Development of the parent-child bond: What problems can be expected with premature and sick newborns?

This workshop is organised by Prof. Mario Rüdiger and Josephin Jahnke from the Department for Neonatology and Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine at the Children’s Clinic of the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden. You will gain insights into the daily work routines of the specialists working in this department, with a focus on how the parent-child bond can be strengthened even in critical situations (e.g., when the newborn is born prematurely or sick and has to stay in the NICU). The workshop will be divided into two parts: a presentation with an opportunity to ask questions and a guided tour of the neonatology ward (NICU and intermediate care ward).

The workshop will take place on Monday, 16 September 2024 from 9:30 - 11:30am.

Interaction-centred psychotherapy for parental postpartum disorders

This workshop is organised by Dr. Anne Coenen and Dr. Ilka Lennertz from the Mother-Child Day Clinic at the Department of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine of the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden. You will gain insights into the multimodal treatment concept of the clinic, with a focus on how interaction-centred psychotherapy can help to strengthen the mother-child bond and treat maternal postpartum mental health problems after childbirth. The workshop will be divided into two parts: a presentation with an opportunity to ask questions and a guided tour of the Mother-Child Day Clinic. Please note that the guided tour has a maximum capacity of 10 people, so make sure to indicate your preference for the guided tour when booking your tickets. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The workshop will take place on Monday, 16 September 2024 from 9:30 - 11:30am (including the guided tour, which lasts approx. 30min).
